IFAA Fellowship - Accreditation Announcement

CPD Record | IFAA Fellowship | Life Membership

Dear Member,

AICLA Associate & Fellow Members

I am pleased to announce that from 1 April 2005 the International Federation of Adjusting Associations (IFAA) initiated an Accreditation Programme for individual members who are qualified members (Associates or Fellows of AICLA).

The IFAA is a global association of which the AICLA and CILA – UK were inaugural members in 1999. Since then the IFAA has been active in promoting the role of its member Loss Adjusting Institutes/Associations and their Members to a worldwide audience. The IFAA has a strict Code of Professional Conduct adhered to by its following nine Institutes/Associations:

AUSTRALASIA - AICLA | NIGERIA - ILAN | CANADA - CIAA | SOUTH AFRICA - ILASA | EUROPE - FUEDI | UNITED KINGDOM - CILA
JAPAN - LAAJ | UNITED STATES - NAIIA | MALAYSIA - AMLA

The high adjusting standards both in education and in experience which are promoted within the IFAA are in large part due to the high professional standards enforced by the AICLA in Australasia, AMLA in Malaysia, CIAA in Canada, CILA in the United Kingdom and NAIIA, the National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters, in the United States.

The IFAA has agreed to accept as ‘Fellows’ (the title of an IFAA-accredited claims person) persons who have been endorsed by an IFAA member (eg. the AICLA) as having qualified to the highest standard achievable within their own Institute/Association, which must be equivalent to at least Associate of AICLA. Additionally they must be at least 25 years of age, have a minimum of five years continuing experience and agree to adhere to the IFAA’s Code of Professional Conduct. Those accepted for membership will be entitled to use the designation F.I.F.A.A. and the term ‘Fellow of IFAA’. Fellows of IFAA will receive a membership certificate.

In addition, those holding the Accreditation of a Fellow will be granted advanced standing when he or she qualifies for and applies to join as a member of another IFAA member Institute/Association.

Fellowship of the IFAA would incur an annual fee of:
Australian members - AUD$66.00 (including GST), New Zealand members - NZD$65.00, International members - AUD$60.00.
(40% of the fee will be retained by the IFAA member Institute/Association (AICLA in our case) and the remainder paid to the IFAA for its costs of administration.)

Please visit the IFAA website www.adjustersworldwide.org to review the IFAA Mission Statement, outline of core competencies and Code of Professional Conduct.

As a qualified member of AICLA, I would encourage you to seek IFAA Fellowship for global recognition of your professional status. If you wish to proceed, I have attached an application form for completion and return. Should you have any questions, please contact Tony Libke at adminoffice@aicla.org.

Kind regards,
Andrew Thomas
President
